artface_smIn the early 90’s graphic designer Vickey Hanson stumbled upon historic photos of Sun Valley in her local library. She became fascinated by these images of life in the small town of Ketchum Idaho in the 30’s. Dirt streets, old cars, horse driven buggies, some recognizable buildings and homes and a future ski mountain with no runs cut through the trees. The hills and mountains seemed so familiar yet this era is “so gone”. So much had changed. She immediately fell in love with these photos, many taken by Union Pacific Railroad while they visited the area looking for a destination for their first in America ski resort. She thought others may find these archived images interesting too so she brought them to life for contemporary audiences by scanning and coloring them digitally then printing them as fine art reproductions on canvas. These recreated photos have a watercolor or painterly look. As the technology developed so did Vickey’s use of the tools to recreate her photos of the area. Blending her digital photos with graphic elements to further her artist expression can be seen in new work with a GRAPHIC feel or other pieces with a WARHOL or GRUNGY style. So whether you’re tastes are romantic for the past or modern for a more upbeat look we think you’ll find these works and quality reproductions a stand out. Many of the posters are direct, beautiful reproductions of actual vintage posters but many are her creations. Her prints have graced the walls of local businesses, celebrity homes and customers with a love of vintage ski and resort activities.
